We’re finally getting to the rooms that really need work (in the blogosphere only, not in real life). The only reason we have a dining room set in here is because we ran out and bought one the day before had our first guests. It was one of those purchases we paid too much for because we needed it immediately. We bought the table on Atlantic Avenue. Need I say more?
The big job here is the plaster. The ceiling is in terrible shape and the whole room could use a good skim coat. It’s dry and crumbly, so if we were to do this on our own the easiest thing would be to laminate. We would love to save the ceiling border, but that’s never going to happen if we go DIY. Anyone think even a master plasterer could save this? The Bradbury was put up by the previous owner and I can’t get enough of it.
We have the same issue with the light here as we do in the living room. The floors are ok. Pocket doors need realignment. I’d like to reupholster and restore the chairs. Realistically, we may get to plaster and paint. Period.

It would be a shame to lose the ceiling border, but it would probably cost less to do it diy and buy more wallpaper. I can’t see how someone would be able to plaster right up to the border anyway. It’s probably cracked underneath.
If you laminate you’re going to lose the top of the wall border also.
