We just discovered that our 1912 Bungalow has speaking tubes also. while remodelling the kitchen we found an odd tin tube with an elbow that appeared to go upstairs and also a tube to the basement. In the attic we say also that the tubes went from the second floor master bedroom to the kitchen (and maybe basement?). The tubes have been cut in the attic but could be restored. Any mouthpieces seem to be missing completely, but I will go to the basement to investigate if there is one there. We too would be interested in finding reproductions or originals of that period. This is all to fascinating to us. We will leave the tube exposed in the wall as we finish off the kitchen in hopes of finding a mouthpiece. A bit of history exposed is a good thing!

In reply to Daniel Landis. I’m not sure if Junior’s still sells them as this is an old post. You can try to contact them directly or look on eBay or Etsy for old stock. Maybe also try Gem Spa who went out of business last year but still has an online store. They’re known for their egg creams as well.

In reply to Teresa Snider-Stein. There used to be a few Habitat for Humanities in Westchester, but not sure if they're still around. That's the first place I'd try, even if the closest one is in NJ. Also, you can try posting it on the Brownstoner forum. Granted, it's mostly Brooklyn, but people will travel for the right door. I need a front door for my own place, but unfortunately, it has to be very specific as I'm in a landmark district. Lastly, you can post it on Craigslist or hashtag it on Instagram and you may get a taker. If you want to post a picture to the Reclaimed Home Facebook page, I can send that to my Insta account too. This blog is no longer active, so posting here isn't going to do much. Good luck!

I want to find a home for our original front door and glass side panels from our 1904 home here in Hasting on Hudson, just north of NYC. I do not want to just put them in a landfill. I don’t need to sell them; they’re free – some one just needs to pick them up. The door and side windows were removed today, so it’s ready whenever you are. I know things are a bit different due to Covid, but I would really love to give this a second life. Please let me know if you know of a place to donate this!

I have been seeing Glen for over 30 years. I usually don’t comment or post reviews about any services, but I feel compelled to leave a comment now. About 15 years ago, my two cousins (my dad’s family) and I made appointments on the same day. They used fake names and my dad (who had passed 10 years earlier) was present in each of our sessions. His characteristic mannerisms and phrases came through. This is not why I’m writing this comment. I believe in intuition and psychic ability, having had my own experiences with it throughout my life. So my thinking is, either you believe or you don’t. I don’t understand why anyone who would try to trick someone, use an alias, etc. would even bother scheduling an appointment or spend the money for the service. I’m not judging, but I do wonder.
