I agree, Manny. It's less friendly in the suburbs. I would pass people on the Beacon trail in the morning...just a handful of people using it...and some of them wouldn't even respond to my "Good morning". Welcome home to NYC!!

Great points. One other issue, for us from Queens, NY that we found when we moved to Orange County NY is that the locals talk about you behind your backs. We are referred as the "City People". When you want something done in your house it will alway cost triple because we are the "rich people". Unless they know your grandfather, they do not want to know you. They are cold. Seeing them in a market, they do not even say good morning. They are glad to take the high taxes that they charge but it seems that they will not allow you in their community. We are moving back to Queens. Never thought I would miss it so much. As such a mixed community we are in NYC we are accepting good people. Pisses me off when I see them at the farmers market in NYC. Feel like walking up to them and saying what are you doing in NYC since you do not like us "City People".

I love these cautionary tales. I could never handle full-time living in the country. Also, I'm afraid of country noises. That would probably be a problem, wouldn't it?
