As someone who grew up in the mid-west and didn't get here until adulthood, it's kinda crazy that I already felt like I had a pretty good idea of what it was like to grow up in New York City. Just from reading Ezra Jack Keats books, or watching Sesame Street. Later on, books like Harriet the Spy and the Judy Blume books took over, "Welcome Back, Kotter," "The Jeffersons" and movies like as well as movies like My Bodyguard started filling in the gaps.

I love seeing how New York has changed. Even though I wasn't here to experience the change, I feel like I have a good feel for it, just from pop culture.
