A Jew from NYC. I get the Chinese food thing now. I don’t get how you can grow up in NYC w/o ever eating Indian. Like…did he never hang out in the EV and go to 6th St for a cheap meal? Or was he a little rich brat who didn’t need to slum around the EV? Too bad they closed Dojo’s down. Where do penniless kids go for a meal today?

Nope.

I’m a wasp from the Berkshires who’s family moved to upstate New York in the late 70’s. The Fiance is jewish and was born & raised in NYC although he did attend boarding sKool in the Berkshires. I moved to NYC in 1990. The Fiance moved to Boston in 1998. We met in 1999. He moved to NYC in 2000 and we have an apartment in Queens. I bought a house upstate in 2002.

Ok, so let me get this straight. You are from Queens and he is from upstate? I had it the other way around. Why is it that he had never had Indian food before you met? Did you find him under a rock?

I had to trick him into eating indian food the first time. I brought home take out and told him it was chinese (rice…) and he believed me. He went on and on and on about how good it was and kept asking me to get more from “that place in the city you found”. That place…was Spice Cafe in Grand Central. Such a dork.
