Have I been living under a rock? When did Home Depot launch their Eco Options site? Forgive me if this is old news, but I just discovered it.

When I was looking for building materials a few months ago, none of the Home Depots near Beacon had FSC certified lumber. Oh wait, I lied. I actually found out after I had purchased it elsewhere, that they carry it, but the salespeople didn’t know what they were talking about. So this is a nice surprise to see it on their website.

The site is easy to navigate and has some fun features such as videos and energy calculators. Categories include sustainable forestry, energy efficiency and water conservation. Their sidebar features items they carry (?) such as FSC certified lumber, energy star appliances and non toxic cleaning products.

I’m no Home Depot lover, but sometimes this place cannot be avoided. Kind of like a Starbucks. It would be nice to know you can pick up green options because they ARE difficult to come by in non-metropolitan areas.
